Free Printable Worksheets for your Toddler.

paperNumber of View: 459

I decided to share some free printable worksheets I created for my 3 yr old.

My son is pretty good with letters, shapes and numbers. He recognizes them very easily. Since my son does not go to pre-school or day care I was trying to think of other activities that we could do together. So I created a few simple worksheets that focus on writing skills. The first two are tracing worksheets. Trace basic and familiar shapes with a crayon. The other worksheet focus observing differences. There is a big and small worksheet and a Spot the difference worksheet. My son is not very interested in the tracing worksheets. He likes to just watch me draw the shapes and he says them out loud, but we’ll keep working on it. I also count the lines I make as I’m drawing the sides of each shape which he seems to like. For example when we draw a triangle is say ” A triangle has 3 sides” and we count the sides together.

You can download and save these worksheets to use them over and over again or simply print them out from the web.

Enjoy

Butterfly Footprint Keepsake

homemade giftNumber of View: 478

This is a really cute idea I found on pinterest. You make a butterfly out of your child’s foot prints. There are a lot of foot/hand print ideas floating around on pinterest but this one is by far the cutest.

These little butterflies make cute wall art for your home, but with Christmas coming up I thought it would be the perfect keepsake Christmas gift for grandma. It would even make a cute gift  for your husband/spouse.

You only need 3 things.

1. Canvas

2. Paint

3. Little feet ;)

My daughter is 20 months and although her feet seem like they are still to tiny to me. I could bearly fit them on the 6 inch square canvas I had. But this project turned out to be a little trickier than I had initially thought and I wasn’t too happy with my results. I used some old golden acrylic paint that I had left over from my days as a graphic design student, but they were a bit dried out, supper sticky and hard to work with.  So I would suggest a few practice rounds before printing on you canvas. After 3 attempts and a very big mess I couldn’t quite get the same look. My husband still really liked them but I don’t think they are gift ready. So I will try another round another day.

Next time I think I will.

1. Get bigger canvas

2. Sketch the butterfly body first and use it as a guide for feet placement ;)

Happy Halloween

FlintstonesNumber of View: 340

This is what happens to me every year. I think about Halloween costumes procrastinate . . . decide the malls and everything are too crazy and we are just going to stay home, but then the day of I end up throwing together a last minute costume and wanted to take the kids somewhere. This is how my last minute costumes turned out this year.

flintstones kids costumes

Total cost $0 ;) . Lol I had all this poly fleece stashed around the house. I think I was going to make blankets as a gift one year but never got around to it. I wanted my Fred Flintstone costume to be longer. It was a little on the sort side so I had to throw on some shorts underneath. I thought the shorts would be really distracting but it wasn’t too bad. Miss pebble’s costume was a second try make it work moment. The first top I cut and sewed was much cuter it was more of a baby doll shaped dress that I was going to pair cute blue bloomers, but the stretch of the fabric was in the wrong direction so I got it on her but couldn’t get it off and I had to cut her out of it. I didn’t have enough fabric to make it the same shape so I was stuck with this green tank top thing and instead of making her bloomers I used this ruffled skirt from the children’s place. If you want a more complete pebbles look you can make a little bone accessory for her hair. I didn’t bother because my daughter always pull off anything in her hair. I was lucky to get this shot. So after the costumes were complete we headed over to Kahala Mall for the candy.

But instead of collecting candy my kids were way more interested in FUN FACTORY and to be honest so was I those lines were movin way to slow.

Thrify Finds: Sewing Edition

ThriftySewingNumber of View: 733

So I went to our local thrift store on Sunday and am happy to say I didn’t buy anything, well I bought 2 small things that together were under $5. I haven’t gone browsing around a thrift store in awhile. Here are some of the things I passes up but found really cool.

One day if I have the money or the space I think I might collect vintage sewing machines. I’ve never really seen any sewing machines in this particular thrift store before and was very pleasantlysurprised to find 3.

1. Vintage Retro Brother Sewing Machine.

Check out the rainbow colors going on on that thing ;)

2. Vintage Kenmore Sewing Machine

This baby was a serious sewing machine. It was all metal and very heavy.

3. And then I came across this table.

looks like grandma’s old sewing table. I wonder. . . I lifted up top of this table and whaddya know

This cool steel blue sewing machine was hiding inside. This sewing cabinet with the vintage borletti machine still intact was $49.99. Hehe I was seriously tempted to find someone to help me to my car with it. but I don’t think my husband would have been too thrilled to see me come home with that thing. It was a really nice sturdy table though and on inside of the top drawer was this maker’s mark.

Oh well I’m proud of myself that I refrained.

I also didn’t realize there was a fabric section of the store next to where they hang all the sheets. Here were some of my favorite scraps.

This first rainbow striped fabric was easier to pass up because it was very stiff. Not good for clothes, but I kind of wanted to snatch it up in-case I decide to do a reupholstering project one day.

This next one I just might regret not buying. It was a very charming vintage flower print.

I swear they wanted $9.99 for this print, but I have this thing where I think things from thrift stores should only cost $1, lol or something close to it. I say their vintage because these fabrics had a pretty funky smell. I can’t believe I came across sew many sewing machines pretty cool considering September is National Sewing Month. Happy National Sewing Month!
