Lately we have gotten our toddlers more active in cleaning up. Being 37 weeks pregnant I take the help where ever I can get it. So they help out with getting diapers when they need changing and throwing them away after. Another thing I have them do is put their dirty dishes in the the sink when they are finished. They got the hang of it pretty quickly and do it all the time. There are some hiccups however when my son is done eating a particular snack and my daughter isn’t he will want to “put it in the sink” but I’ll tell him no because his sister is still eating and he gets upset, but other than that it’s been great and the kids really seem to be happy to do things for themselves. Until the other day that is when for the first time I heard my 2 yr old say to my 3 yr old “Bubba, Put it in the sink Bubba.” referring to the juice she had just finished. He of course happily obliged. But I was a little shocked. What a lazy little bum! A few days have passed and now she’s in the habit of having her brother put her juice in the sink for her. My poor sweet son, doesn’t he know she’s taking advantage of him? And I don’t know why she does it with just the juice, she’ll still put other dishes in the sink when she’s done and is very helpful during clean up time. It seems like such a small thing and although I find it amusing I hope it’s not a foreshadowing of things to come. There are times when my son is too busy with a toy to put her cup away for her. If he refuses she’ll just leave the cup where it is so I and make sure she still cleans up. Anyway I always joke about how she’s the boss but this time I feel like she actually bossed him around a bit. SMH. What a Diva I still can’t believe it, where does that even come from? I’ll be keeping a close eye on little miss bossy before she gets completely out of control.
