Mario Hat

Super Mario Hat

Hi everyone this is my first giveaway. I opened my first Etsy shop in 2009 featuring fun Super Mario Bros. dress up hats. These hats are great for any Super Mario enthusiast. You don’t need to save it for Halloween your kids can wear it all year around, any day they feel like transforming into Mario or Luigi to battle the evil Bowser and save the princess. I first made as a birthday preset for my little brother. It was the perfect gift he loved it. He wore his hat non stop for one month and still wears  it occasionally on trips to the mall, the park or whenever I come to visit. For this giveaway I’m featuring a re-designed Luigi Hat. This hat is a lighter shade of green then the Mario and Luigi Hats featured on my sidebar and in my Etsy Shop. The “L” on the hat is also stitched on and made out of the same material as the hat vs. being hand painted. Enter to win this giveaway and get an early start on this year’s Halloween costume. The hat is stretchy and can fit a child as young as 1 yrs old and goes all the way up to an Adult small. So it can even fit that “grown up” friend that’s a Mario fan. Good Luck!

Thrift Shopping and Treasure Hunting

Little Kermit

Thrift store shopping was so fun the last time I went. Here are some of the things I found. First up I found this cute little Kermit key chain. It was in a big bag of miscellaneous toys I bought the bag because I saw a bunch of Pokemon toys in it and my brothers are really into Pokemon right now, so I thought I would surprise them. My next bag of goodies contained vintage cookie cutters. I was surprised at how good the condition was of all these cutters. I listed a few in my etsy store there was a Raggedy Ann and Andy set a Little Boy and Girl Gingerbread Man Set, and some really cool collection of playing card suit shapes with fluted edges. The ones I decided to keep were assorted sized hearts and flowers, perfect for the up coming holidays. I plan to bake batches of cookies and other treats for my love ones this year.

The next thing I found were Japanese fridge magnets they came with a set of regular letter and number fridge magnets. I’ve been wanting to get some of these fun fridge magnets for my son for some time now and have been having a hard time finding them. I was so stoked to see the Japanese ones thrown in there too like an added bonus. Too bad I don’t know any Japanese. ;)

Japanese Alphabet Fridge Magnets

The last toy I found were these little 1inch cubes with letters in them. They interlock so you can spell out words. All the sides alternate capital and lower case letters. Each block has one letter on it. I’ve never seen anything like it before. I think it’s a teaching tool. What do you think?

Mannequin

I also got a great little hat mannequin for my Mario and Luigi hats.

Mario and Luigi Hats now Sold as a Set

Number of View: 672

I just made a listing on my etsy shop to sell my Mario and Luigi hats in a set. This is great because you can now get both hats for the same flat rate shipping. Thank you USPS for the large Priority Mailers. It’s been going well so far. I’ve sold three sets, which helps to move my Luigi hat inventory, because before I was only getting orders for Mario. I also found a slightly better green fleece, still a little dark for my taste, but much more vibrant. I need to get my little brothers over to model the new hats and update pictures ;)

Super Mario Hat

Mario

Well since the Super Mario Bros. Hat is the most popular item in my etsy store, (being that it’s the only item I’ve sold so far). I would like to add a Luigi Hat. That way I can offer a discount on the hats if bought as a set. So I have been on a search to find green polyester fleece, and let me tell you it’s been hard to find on this tiny little island. This is the first time I envy mainland stores. I’ve always thought Hawaii has pretty much everything the mainland has, but when it comes to good crafting supplies we are in need of some help. Wal-Mart carries an abundant stock of the solid red fleece, but I have check the 2 out of 4 Wal-Marts on the Island and have yet to find green. I called Fabric Mart in Kaneohe and asked if they have green and was told they only have lime green and olive green, which will just not do for Luigi lovers. ;(  I even went to a large wholesale warehouse full of rolls and rolls of fabric, still nothing!  I managed to find a yard of dark forest green fleece in the scraps section, and decided to purchase it since it’s been the closest I have come to green and  my little brother has been requesting a hat for sometime now. Ever since his older brother received my first Super Mario hat he NEEDS Luigi because Luigi’s Mario’s brother! Well I’m sure dark green will suffice for my 3 year old little brother. But I don’t think it will be added to my etsy store. :(   So my search for green polyester fleece continues. Back to the yellow pages to search for more fabric stores. I’ve also been contemplating buying white polyester fleece and dying the material myself, but I have no experience with dyes. If anyone is good with do it yourself dyeing fabrics at home please let me know. Thanks
