It’s every sellers nightmare. In efforts to remain competitive in this online market you offered too much of a discount on shipping and you end up spending more to ship the item than what the buyer paid for it. I made my first sale today with my new vintage shop on etsy, ClutterCult. Unfortunately I made that same rookie mistake and grossly underestimated the shipping cost. After I finished packaging my item it weight a whopping 4 pounds! So deceptive. These bowls are so much lighter than any pyrex dishes, yet it still weighed 4 pounds? Yikes I’ve never mailed anything so heavy. It wasn’t a total nightmare I still came out a tiny bit ahead, but I better shape up fast if I ever hope to make any kind of profit I do want this to be business after all. Oh well lesson learned I need to double check all the shipping amounts in my shop and re-weight all my items adding extra weight for the box and packing materials necessary to keep these precious items safe. Well you live and learn. I also was not aware that packages over 13oz can not be sent first class mail.

This listing is for a set of 2 Yellow Colored Tupperware Canisters.
One is larger.
This item is in good vintage condition. There is a scratch on the largest container.
Each canister has the matching lid. These containers are great storage units for any kitchen.
These containers are marked “sugar” and “rice”
I believe those labels are removable.

6.5 inches diameter

Medium Canister:
7 inches tall
6 inches diameter

At the end of 2009 my etsy store sales hit 69! Not a bad for the first 6 months. Aw so close to 70, oh well 70 is for 2010 I guess. This boost in sales from the Holiday Season also put a rise in my positive feed back. They say the feedback for etsy sellers is not as critical as ebay feedback, but I am truly greatful to all the customers who took the time to leave positive feedback.

My First ETSY SALE!

Today I made my first etsy sale! Yay I’m so excited and I’m also very grateful that my sister is such a great social networker. I asked her to help me promote my site and my views jumped from 20 to over 140 in a day! Sweet. Today is also my little boys first birthday. I always knew that kids was lucky. I just hope I don’t have to wait another year for a sale.

My first sale was a handmade Mario hat. The first time I made this hat it was for my 5 year-old little brother. After he got a DS lite for his birthday he went crazy for Mario so I decided to make him a Mario Hat for Christmas.

He went nuts. He loved it and still does. I’m also very happy to say that it has held up against the rough and tumble play of a 5 year old.
